asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will give an assurance that the members of Her Majesty's Forces and their dependants will receive the same pension and compensation rights in the armed conflict with Egypt as they would if Her Majesty's Government has declared a state of war with Egypt.

Yes, Sir. The provisions for the award of pensions and allowances under the pensions instruments which I administer are the same in all cases in which disablement or death arises in consequence of service in the Armed Forces. Questions of compensation for loss of personal effects by members of the forces are the responsibility of the Service Department concerned but I understand from my right hon. Friends that the position is similar
