HC Deb 05 November 1956 vol 558 cc1927-8
13. Mr. J. E. B. Hill

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to receive the report of the Runciman Committee on the Marketing of Horticultural Produce.

Mr. Amory

Lord Runciman tells me that his Committee has made very considerable progress and hopes to complete its report by the end of this year or early next year.

Mr. Hill

Can my right hon. Friend say whether the Committee has had the advantage of visiting the Continent, and, in particular, Germany to see the working of the farmers' co-operative in vegetable auctions there?

Mr. Amory

The Committee, or some members of it, has cerainly visited the Continent. I am not sure whether it has visited Germany or not, but I will find out and inform my hon. Friend.
