asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many administrative grade civil servants were engaged in fulltime duties in Scotland at the latest convenient date; and what proportion they represented of all grades of civil servants in Scotland.

The figures on 1st April. 1956, were 170 and 0.3 per cent.

asked the Secretary to the Treasury (1) what proportion of the civil servants now engaged in full-time duties in Wales are of the administrative grade; and the proportion for the United Kingdom;

(2) how many administrative grade civil servants were engaged in full-time duties in Wales at the latest convenient date; and how this figure compares with the figure in 1950.

The number of administrative class civil servants engaged on full-time duties in Wales on 1st April, 1956, was 16, the comparable 1950 figure being 15. The figure 16 represented 0.07 per cent. of all civil servants so engaged, the comparable percentage for the United Kingdom being 0.43.
