Lords AmendmentIn page 24, line 41, leave out subsection (1) and insert:
(1) The Statutory Instruments Act, 1946, shall apply to a statutory instrument containing regulations made by the General Dental Council under this Act in like manner as if the regulations had been made by a Minister of the Crown.
§ Miss Hornsby-SmithI beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
This has been a Government Amendment to remedy a defect in the Bill. The Bill requires certain regulations of the General Dental Council to be made by Statutory Instrument. The Statutory Instruments Act, 1946, applies only to Statutory Instruments made by the Crown, and the object of the Amendment is to apply it to instruments made by the General Dental Council. It is a technical and drafting Amendment.
