HC Deb 21 June 1956 vol 554 cc1599-600
5. Mr. K. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has completed his inquiries into allegations of ill-treatment of prisoners in Liverpool Prison; and if he will make a statement.

Major Lloyd-George

I have had inquiry made into the allegation but I have not yet been able to complete my study of the Report.

Mr. Thompson

Is my right hon. and gallant Friend aware that the prison officers will welcome any inquiry, public or otherwise, which will show these allegations to be completely unfounded?

Mrs. Braddock

Is the Home Secretary also aware that the prisoners who have been knocked about will be very anxious to have an inquiry, which will prove that they are not telling untruths?
