asked the Minister of Supply what inquiries he makes to ensure that the contractors employed by his Department act in accordance with the Fair Wages Resolution.

asked the Minister of Supply what steps he takes to ensure that his contractors comply with the Fair Wages Resolution.

Mr. Maudling

All firms wishing to be considered for contracts placed by my Department have to give a written declaration of observance of the Fair Wages Resolution, and that observance is made a specific contract condition.

Mr. Willey

Does the right hon. Gentleman appreciate the importance of this Resolution? Whilst appreciating this undertaking, may I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman will also see that his Department ensures that it is carried out?

Any complaint put forward is always immediately investigated by my Department in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour.
