HC Deb 23 July 1956 vol 557 c27
37. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Minister of Health what arrangements he has made for the discharge of duties formerly carried out by the Adviser in Parentcraft to his Department.

Mr. Turton

Any necessary work in this field is now fully covered by medical officers specialising in maternity and child welfare and by public health nursing officers of my Department.

Mr. Blenkinsop

Will the right hon. Gentleman make it clear that he still regards this work as of first importance, as it has got about in some areas that the termination of the appointment means that the Minister is no longer interested?

Mr. Turton

I am most grateful to the hon. Gentleman for putting down the Question. The work on the advisory side is going on as strongly as ever.
