§ 38. Mr. W. Yatesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in view of the representations made to him by all the Members of Parliament for Shropshire and by the National Farmers' Union, if he will consider making a statement about the disposal of the grain silo at Newport, which is at present under his control.
Mr. AmoryAs I anounced in the reply given on 16th July to my hon. Friend the Member for Devizes (Mr. Pott), a tender has been accepted for a lease of the Newport silo to a group of 27 corn and agricultural merchants trading in Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. I understand that the group intend to operate a drying and storage service for home-grown grain on the lines of that run by Re-Commissioned Mills Limited in the past two seasons.
§ Mr. YatesIs the Minister aware that this Answer will be well received by the farmers in The Wrekin division of Shropshire?
