HC Deb 17 July 1956 vol 556 c1035
45. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Prime Minister whether he will now make a statement regarding the Government's policy towards restrictions on broadcasting in anticipation of Parliamentary debates.

The Prime Minister (Sir Anthony Eden)

I will make a statement when consideration of the Report has been completed.

Mr. Donnelly

If I put a Question down to the Prime Minister about a week before the Recess, will he have an answer?

The Prime Minister

All I can say is that we will produce an answer as rapidly as we can. The hon. Gentleman must understand that this is not a matter only for the Government. There must be considerable consultations with the House about it. A number of the considerations affect quite wide issues. I could not give a promise, but we will do our best to give an answer before the House rises.
