HC Deb 13 July 1956 vol 556 c733
Mr. Gordon Walker

May I ask the Chancellor whether he has a statement to make about next week's business?

The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

Yes, Sir, I have an alteration in business to announce. Discussions have taken place through the usual channels and arrangements have been made for a debate on Cyprus to take place on Thursday, 19th July, which will be the 23rd allotted Supply day. Afterwards, we shall proceed with the Motion to approve the Import Duties (Exemptions) Order relating to pork, bacon and ham already announced. The debate on the Vote for the Ministry of Education will not now take place next week.

Mr. Keegan

Can my right hon. Friend say whether Supply will be taken formally on Thursday, and a Motion tabled, or whether the question of Cyprus will be discussed in Committee of Supply?

Mr. Gordon Walker

That is for us to say.

Mr. Macmillan

In reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Nottingham, South (Mr. Keegan), that matter has not yet been arranged through the usual channels.
