HC Deb 11 July 1956 vol 556 cc371-2
14. Dr. Stross

asked the Postmaster-General the number of subscribers to the telephone service in Stoke-on-Trent; how many share a line; and how many are on the list awaiting a new installation.

Dr. Hill

The numbers are: 11,422, 2,426 and 769, respectively.

Dr. Stross

Could the right hon. Gentleman tell me how these figures compare with, say, a year ago, and secondly, if many people have given up their telephones as a result of expecting to pay more for them in future?

Dr. Hill

If the hon. Gentleman will put down those questions, I will get him the figures.
