§ 21. Mr. de Freitasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the terms of the communiqué of the North Atlantic Ministerial Council dated 16th December, he will make a statement as to the steps taken by the British representative to have measures of co-operation under Article 2 of the Treaty examined by the Permanent Council.
§ Lord John HopeThe Permanent Council has already begun its examination and is now considering proposals made by the British and other permanent representatives.
§ Mr. de FreitasWhen can we have a statement either by the Council or by Her Majesty's Government on what questions are being considered?
§ Lord John HopeA statement will be made as soon as the Council can reasonably make one. I do not think it would be helpful to make a statement now, while these discussions are just beginning.
