HC Deb 25 January 1956 vol 548 c177
Miss Herbison

I beg to ask leave to present a humble Petition signed by 2,682 of my constituents in the villages of Salsburgh, Dewshill, South Blair, Eastfield and Harthill.

This Petition shows that very grave concern and righteous indignation are felt concerning the number of fatal accidents in these villages, particularly fatal accidents that are happening to children.

The Petition concludes: Wherefore your petitioners pray that a thirty mile per hour speed limit be imposed on that part of the road that passes through the village of Salsburgh and on that part of the road which passes through the village of Eastfield. They also pray that every other possible step will be taken to make this road more safe both for pedestrians and all other road users. And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray. To lie upon the Table.
