HC Deb 21 February 1956 vol 549 c177
23. Mr. G. Jeger

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the necessity of conserving foreign exchange, he will make an early statement of his intentions regarding the amount of the foreign currency travel allowance.

Mr. H. Macmillan

I do not intend to make any change in the present allowance.

Mr. Jeger

Is the right hon. Gentleman satisfied that we can export this sterling without any detrimental effect upon our own position?

Mr. Macmillan

One has to watch these things. I repeat that I do not intend to make any change at present.
