HC Deb 20 February 1956 vol 549 cc25-6
40. Mr. Boardman

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he can give the average annual costs incurred by authorities responsible for land drainage for work necessitated by mining subsidence.

Mr. Amory

No, Sir. I regret that the information is not readily obtainable.

Mr. Boardman

Can the Minister say whether he accepts the recommendations in the Turner Report in relation to these costs of land drainage?

Mr. Amory

That really is the responsibility of the Minister of Fuel and Power. I understand from my right hon. Friend that the problem of mining subsidence is at present under review by him, in consultation with the National Coal Board.
