HC Deb 16 February 1956 vol 548 cc2519-20
39. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Labour what success has attended the efforts of officers of his Department in assisting retirement pensioners who seek to obtain employment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Separate figures for retirement pensioners are not available, but during 1955 an average of over 2,000 men and women over the minimum pension ages were placed in employment each month. The figures for the four weeks ended 11th January last were 2,268 men and 675 women.
