HC Deb 13 February 1956 vol 548 cc2047-8
5. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether he will meet an all-party deputation of Members of Parliament to discuss the financial difficulties confronting old-age pensioners and others in receipt of State pensions.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Certainly, Sir. The hon. Member is, however, I am sure, aware that State pensioners in the sense of retired public servants are not within my responsibility.

Mr. Lewis

Yes. I thank the right hon. Gentleman for that reply, and I shall be very pleased to get an all-party deputation of Members who, I hope, will be able to persuade him to do something for these pensioners.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I shall always be glad to see the hon. Gentleman, either alone or accompanied.
