§ 13. Lieut-Colonel Liptonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will issue a White Paper setting out the policy of Her Majesty's Government in relation to prices, profits and wages
§ Sir E. BoyleI would refer the hon. Member to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member for Oldbury and Halesowen (Mr. Moyle) on 24th January.
§ Lieut.-Colonel LiptonThat did not answer anything. Is it not a fact that the previous Chancellor of the Exchequer intended to publish a White Paper on this 1787 subject last year? Why has that intention been scrapped by his successor, the present Chancellor, and when are we to be told something about the Government's intention, if they have any at all?
§ Sir E. BoyleI cannot add to my original Answer.
§ Mr. JayIs the present Chancellor's refusal to publish the White Paper prepared by the previous Chancellor due to the fact that he disagrees with the previous Chancellor's policy or are we to have it published in the Economic Survey?
§ Sir E. BoyleThe right hon. Gentleman is quite misinformed if he thinks there is any dissension between successive Chancellors of the Exchequer.
