HC Deb 09 February 1956 vol 548 c1808
47. Mrs. Castle

asked the Prime Minister what discussions he had with President Eisenhower as to the place and date of the explosion of the British hydrogen bomb.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have been asked to reply.

My right hon. Friend has no statement to make on this subject.

Mrs. Castle

Will the right hon. Gentleman ask his right hon. Friend to give the House an assurance that when the time and place of the explosion of the British hydrogen bomb are decided the House will be the first to be informed? Can he say when that is likely to take place?

Mr. Butler

As my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has previously indicated, it would not be in the public interest to make any further statement on this topic.
