§ 4. Mr. Mossasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what progress has been made in the proposal to construct a by-pass at Atherstone in the County of Warwick.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe preliminary survey work has now been completed by the agent authority, the Warwickshire County Council. The preparation of the draft Order under Section 1 (2) of the Trunk Roads Act, 1946, which I hope to publish later in the year, is in hand.
§ Mr. ChetwyndIs the Minister aware that plans were made for this road as far back as 1927 when the route was pegged out across the grammar school playing fields? Is it not time that something more active was done?
§ Mr. WatkinsonI am afraid that some of these road schemes take an enormous time because of the difficulties of acquiring property and many other factors.
