HC Deb 20 December 1956 vol 562 c1454
44. Mr. Shepherd

asked the President of the Board of Trade what proposals he entertains for the amendment of the Cinematograph Films Act, 1948, other than those contained in the Gracious Speech.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

None in the present Session, Sir.

Mr. Shepherd

Do I take it that my right hon. Friend has no intention of varying the present definition of British films?

Mr. Thorneycroft

There is no intention to introduce in the present Session detailed amendments to the Cinematograph Films Act, 1948, but that does not mean that I shall not be discussing with the industry possible amendments which might be introduced at some future time.
