§ 24. Mr. J. J. Astorasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the appointment of a committee to advise on the acquisition and disposal of bloodstock by the National Stud.
Mr. AmoryYes, Sir. As recommended by the Committee on National Stud policy and methods of operation, I have appointed a standing Committee to advise me on all proposals for the acquisition and disposal of bloodstock—other than sales of yearlings and foals—by the National Stud. I am glad to say that the Duke of Norfolk has consented to act as Chairman of the Committee. The other members will be Mr. M. W. Wickham-Boynton and Mr. Jack Jarvis. I should like to make it clear that the members of the Committee will have no responsibility for the general policy of the Stud or for its day-to-day operations.
