HC Deb 04 December 1956 vol 561 c1030
20. Miss Burton

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the concern felt in textile circles at the claims being made in newspaper advertisements and elsewhere for the insulating properties of metallised linings for raincoats and other garments; and whether, in view of the details supplied to him by the hon. Member for Coventry, South, he will arrange for a report on the validity of these claims to be published by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in conjunction with the Medical Research Council.

Mr. Erroll

My right hon. Friend is not aware of any concern in the textile industry about this subject. He has studied the information provided by the hon. Lady, but he does not think that it gives grounds for asking the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research to make a report.

Miss Burton

May I inform the Parliamentary Secretary that I am so grateful for his previous reply that I will forgo the second until I get the other verified?
