HC Deb 12 April 1956 vol 551 c364
6. Mr. Hayman

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what reply he is giving to the representations from the National Farmers' Union about the site of a proposed new school at Carn Brea, Camborne.

Mr. Amory

I have received no representations from the National Farmers' Union on this matter.

Mr. Hayman

Is the Minister aware that the county council wants to build a school on a very big site which would take up five or six holdings which are intensively worked? May I remind the Minister—

Hon. Members

No.

Mr. Speaker

The hon. Member is taking the opportunity of Question Time to make speeches about his constituency. If the Minister is not aware of these things the hon. Member should tell him the facts, but not at Question Time.

Mr. Hayman

As the Minister knows the area very well indeed, will he exert all his influence to ensure that a site on waste land is used?

Mr. Amory

The authorities concerned will, I am certain, consult me as regards the agricultural aspects before deciding on any project.
