HC Deb 31 October 1955 vol 545 cc656-7
33. Mr. W. Yates

asked the Minister of Health if he will consider appointing a committee to investigate the circumstance where an employee of a hospital bas been dismissed because of racial discrimination at the Wrekin Cottage Hospital, Wellington, Shropshire, by the Shropshire Staff and Management Committee on 13th January, 1955, after seven years service at that hospital.

Mr. Iain Macleod

No, Sir. I am satisfied that racial discrimination was not the reason for this dismissal.

Mr. Yates

Whilst thanking the Minister for that reply, may I ask whether he is aware that the matron of this hospital has now resigned? In view of that fact, Mr. Speaker, I beg to give notice that I shall raise this matter on the Adjournment.
