HC Deb 27 October 1955 vol 545 c353
13. Dr. Stross

asked the Minister of Education the result of his discussions with the Minister of Health and the Minister of Labour concerning the possible exposure of schoolchildren and others to lead poisoning when engaged in glazing pottery: and what conclusions have been reached so as to avoid this danger.

Mr. Vosper

My right hon. Friend is about to send a memorandum to local authorities and others offering advice on this subject. I will send a copy of this to the hon. Member, who was good enough to draw my attention to the need for it.

Dr. Stross

While thanking the Parliamentary Secretary for his reply, may I ask him this? In addition to the question of the dangers from using raw lead glazes for this purpose, does the memorandum contain anything concerning the use of finely powdered flints and other dangerous materials?

Mr. Vosper

I hope that the hon. Member will look at the memorandum. If it is not satisfactory, perhaps he will have a word with me about it.
