HC Deb 28 November 1955 vol 546 cc1930-1
47. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations have been made to him regarding the need to establish standards for the meat content of sausages; and what action he is taking in the matter.

Mr. Amory

I have received representations from a number of food and drugs authorities and from organisations representing public analysts, manufacturers and traders. I have asked the Food Standards Committee to review the position.

Mr. Dodds

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the efforts he is making to rid the sausage of suspicion will receive almost universal approval?

Mr. Amory

I assure the hon. Gentleman that I am very solicitous that the homely "banger" should be held in high repute and will take every step I can to ensure that that is so.
