HC Deb 24 November 1955 vol 546 c1643
36. Mr. Mikardo

asked the Minister of Labour how many persons were employed in Remploy factories at the latest date for which figures are available.

Sir W. Monckton

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary gave to the hon. Member for Sunderland, North (Mr. Willey) on Tuesday, 22nd November.

Mr. Mikardo

Is the Minister satisfied that he will be able to keep his undertaking to the House that the number of disabled persons employed in Remploy factories will not fall below 6,000?

Sir W. Monckton

It is my intention to resume recruitment to Remploy factories immediately in order to maintain the total figure of severely disabled workers at 6,000.
