§ Lords Amendment: In page 2, line 9, at end insert "the."
§ 9.35 p.m.
§ The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. Henry Brooke)I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
This is almost a triviality. The Bill passed through this House unamended; indeed, it was so readily accepted by the House that in Committee there was no discussions at all. Perhaps we made a slip. We overlooked that the article "the" had been omitted by a printing error at the end of one line. In another place an eagle eye detected this. An Amendment was introduced, and I trust that it will not be necessary to keep the House sitting long before it may be agreed to here.
§ Mr. Alfred Robens (Blyth)After that long explanation, for which we thank the right hon. Gentleman, I should like to say that I am sorry that there is no Law Officer present so that we can discuss the Amendment at length. However, I think that we ought to be satisfied with what the right hon. Gentleman said.
§ Question put and agreed to.
