HC Deb 22 November 1955 vol 546 c1241
12. Mr. R. Bell

asked the Secretary of State for War what progress has been made since 31st July, 1951, towards making a permanent arrangement for the administration of Iver Grove Camp, Buckinghamshire.

Mr. F. Maclean

This is a very difficult problem. We have made several attempts to solve it without success. We are trying again.

Mr. Bell

Inasmuch as that Answer differs only in being a little more hopeful from the Answer given to me four-and-a-half years ago, and inasmuch as the matter has not only been under continuous consideration, but also active negotiation for four-and-a-half years, would my hon. Friend bring it to early finality, and relieve his Department of what by now must be an almost crushing burden?

Mr. Maclean

We are as anxious as my hon. Friend to get this problem solved. But he must realise that it is a delicate problem and a number of different interests are involved.
