HC Deb 16 November 1955 vol 546 cc403-4
16. Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether the new yellow through-route signs have now been erected by all the Metropolitan boroughs.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The necessary signs have been or are now being erected by all the Metropolitan boroughs concerned, with one exception.

Mr. Russell

Can my right hon. Friend say which is the exception?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Stepney.

Mr. K. Robinson

In view of the fact that some of these signs direct traffic to a ring road which includes the bottleneck of Euston Road, will the right hon. Gentleman see that something is done at the earliest opportunity to remove that bottleneck?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The bottleneck was there before the signs, but I agree that its removal would be an improvement.
