HC Deb 14 November 1955 vol 546 cc4-5
4. Mr. Collins

asked the Attorney-General if he is now in a position to say when the Report of the Royal Commission on Divorce can be published.

The Solicitor-General

I understand that the work of printing the Report is expected to begin this week. It is hoped to publish the Report by the end of January, but I cannot of course give an undertaking to that effect.

Mr. Collins

I thank the Minister for that reply, but can he say whether the Report, which has obviously been received, is a unanimous one, or whether it is a majority and a minority report?

The Solicitor-General

No, Sir. I am afraid that I must ask the hon. Member to await publication of the Report.

Mr. de Freitas

When the Report is published, will the Solicitor-General try to persuade the Leader of the House to give time to debate it, because if the House persistently ignores reports of Royal Commissions it will become increasingly difficult to get people to serve on them.

The Solicitor-General

The hon. Gentleman may give himself the pleasure of addressing that Question at the right time to my right hon. Friend.
