HC Deb 10 November 1955 vol 545 cc1990-1
24. Mr. Hyde

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the extent of the existing liaison between Customs preventive officers and officers of the Royal Ulster Constabulary for the purpose of the prevention and detection of smuggling offences in Northern Ireland.

Mr. H. Brooke

The Customs and the police have separate and distinct responsibilities on the Border. The two services work in close co-operation when necessary.
