HC Deb 09 November 1955 vol 545 cc1838-9
33. Mr. Teeling

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air why some Royal Air Force officers' married quarters in Gibraltar are in buildings condemned for naval ratings as far back as 1939; and what he proposes to do to remedy this situation.

Mr. Ward

I agree that these quarters are most unsatisfactory, but the general shortage of accommodation in Gibraltar, and the acute difficulty in obtaining land for new building, have compelled us to use them. Flats are now being built to replace them, however, and will I hope be finished in about fifteen months' time.
