HC Deb 09 November 1955 vol 545 c1824
23. Mr. R. Edwards

asked the Postmaster-General the circumstances which led to the request for the breaking down by the Post Office telephone service of a recently reconstructed footpath in Lady-moor Road, Coseley, Staffordshire, despite the fact that prior notice had been given to the Post Office telephone service, under the Public Utilities Street Works Act, by the Coseley Urban District Council that this work of reconstruction was to be undertaken, such notice being given in an attempt to avoid any subsequent interference with a completed reconstruction.

Dr. Hill

Since the resurfacing in July, 1954, a number of unexpected faults have seriously interfered with the telephone service of nearby factories; some replacement of cables is, in consequence, necessary. No other solution seems possible, although I wish it had been otherwise.
