HC Deb 02 November 1955 vol 545 cc1021-2
53. Sir H. Roper

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what steps he proposes to take to reduce the traffic congestion during the holiday season on the A30 road in the neighbourhood of Launceston.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I am afraid that it is not possible at present to authorise substantial works on this part of A30.

Sir H. Roper

Would any right hon. Friend bear in mind the very urgent need there is to do something to relieve this congestion? Is he aware that a scheme has been submitted to him which will effect a great improvement at a modest cost?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I know that, as my hon. and gallant Friend says, there is a good deal of congestion here during the holiday season, but I must look at this scheme in competition with a good many others.
