HC Deb 02 November 1955 vol 545 cc1017-8
35. Mr. Fenner Brockway

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what major road improvements in the Eton and Slough areas proposed by the Buckinghamshire County Council have been included in his Department's five-year programme.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I have not been able to accept for grant this year any of the major improvements in Eton and Slough proposed by the county council, but I hope to be able to include some of them in the programme for the next three years.

Mr. Brockway

Could the right hon. Gentleman say, in particular, when he anticipates that the southern Slough bypass section of the South Wales relief road and the Eton-Windsor by-pass are likely to be authorised by his Department, in view of their urgency?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I am not able to add, with respect to major schemes of this sort, to the statement I made in the House earlier this year.
