HC Deb 05 May 1955 vol 540 c1886
30. Mr. Ede

asked the Minister of Labour why the legislation promised in Command Paper No. 8286 of July, 1951, a necessary preliminary to the ratification of the International Labour Organisation Convention No. 96, has not been introduced by Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Watkinson

In 1951 the previous Government undertook to introduce legislation to provide for the supervision of private employment agencies. More urgent matters have had to take precedence, but the question has not been lost sight of and consultations which have been taking place between Departments are on the point of conclusion.
