§ 26. Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a wider survey of the slum areas of Glasgow.
Commander GalbraithThe Corporation of Glasgow carried out a comprehensive survey of all properties in the city for the purposes of its development plan which my right hon. Friend approved last year, and he does not think any further survey is required meantime.
§ Mr. RankinIn view of that reply, will the Joint Under-Secretary ask the Secretary of State to go to Glasgow and view the problem of the slum areas for himself? Is he aware that, if the Secretary of State does so, he will take a more human attitude to the problem of Cumbernauld than he is at present showing?
Commander GalbraithMy right hon. Friend has already visited Glasgow and looked at the slum areas in the city and the conditions which exist there, but this is a matter more for the Corporation of the City of Glasgow than for the Secretary of State.
