HC Deb 14 March 1955 vol 538 cc922-3
6. Mr. Page

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance why parents' pensions were omitted from those increased by the Royal Warrant, Command Paper No. 9362.

The Minister of Pensions and National Insurance (Mr. Osbert Peake)

I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply last Monday to the hon. and gallant Member for Knutsford (Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport).

Mr. Page

Is not this the only class which has been left out of the increase under the Royal Warrant, and could my right hon. Friend look into the matter again?

Mr. Peake

As my hon. Friend is no doubt aware, these pensions since the end of the First World War have been only dealt with on a needs basis, and we find that we can, within the ambit of the present Regulations, deal with the cases which arise fairly and equitably. If my hon. Friend has any particular case in mind, I shall be happy to look into it.
