HC Deb 03 March 1955 vol 537 c2222
13. Captain Kerby

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why Dr. Otto Strasser, when he arrived from Canada, at London Airport, in the early hours of 18th February, 1955, was put in custody by officers of his Department, and was not allowed to proceed to his hotel in London; and if he will make a statement.

Major Lloyd-George

Dr. Strasser was refused leave to land, and detained until arrangements could be made for him to continue his journey to Switzerland, in pursuance of the decision to which my predecessor referred in reply to my hon. and gallant Friend's previous Question on 8th July last, to the effect that it was not in the public interest to allow him to come to the United Kingdom.
