HC Deb 02 March 1955 vol 537 c2048
29. Mr. Braine

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken to rectify the shortage of agricultural officers in the Colonial Territories, especially in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The relatively large number of vacancies is due to recent and substantial increases in the establishments of the Agricultural Departments of certain Colonial Territories, including those mentioned. To meet the need, efforts to attract recruits from among graduates of universities in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in the Commonwealth are being intensified.
