HC Deb 01 March 1955 vol 537 c1889
Mr. Attlee

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister whether Her Majesty's Government are prepared to offer relief to the victims of the Australian floods.

The Prime Minister

Her Majesty's Government and the people of this country have the deepest sympathy with the victims of the grave Australian floods. We are actively considering what can and should be done to help.

Mr. Fernyhough

While I am thankful that the Government are prepared to give this help to people in other parts of the Commonwealth who need it so badly, may I ask if the Prime Minister can say why, when floods occurred about 12 months ago in India, Her Majesty's Government refused to give any assistance?

Mr. Speaker

Order. I do not think that that has anything to do with the Question which was asked.
