§ 40. Mr. Hastingsasked the Minister of Health what advice he has received from the Standing Medical Advisory Committee of the Central Health Services Council on cancer of the lung; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe Standing Medical Advisory Committee has advised that appropriate action should be taken constantly to inform the public of the known connection between smoking and cancer of the lung and of the risks involved in heavy smoking. This advice has not yet been considered by the Central Health Services Council, and I am awaiting its views.
