HC Deb 23 June 1955 vol 542 c1484
24. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will arrange for sums to be made available from the National Land Fund for the improvement and preservation of our National Parks.

Mr. H. Brooke

My right hon. Friend has not yet completed his consideration of this matter.

Mr. Blenkinsop

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise the wide measure of support there is in this House and outside for this proposal, and would he be prepared to receive a deputation on the matter?

Mr. Brooke

Yes, Sir. I will certainly consider receiving a deputation from any hon. Members in this House, but I would remind the hon. Gentleman that this matter requires legislation if any action is to be taken. It is not something that can be decided lightly.

Mr. Blenkinsop

Does not the right hon. Gentleman realise that this is a matter which probably could be dealt with in a Finance Act, and will that be borne in mind?

Mr. Brooke

If the hon. Gentleman would like to bring a deputation to see me at any time before the next Budget, I should be pleased to meet it.
