asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many applications were granted last year for foreign currency for purposes of foreign travel; how many of these applications were for tourists' travel; and for which foreign currencies they were made.

During 1954 approximately 1,422,000 applications for foreign currency for travel were granted; of these 1,200,000 were for tourists' travel, but details of the currencies applied for are not available.
