HC Deb 16 June 1955 vol 542 cc727-8
3. Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what progress has been made towards the conclusion of an extradition treaty between Her Majesty's Government and the Government of Eire, so as to cover offences committed in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

I have nothing to add to the replies given by my predecessor and myself to my hon. Friends the Members for Belfast, North (Mr. Hyde) and Belfast, East (Mr. McKibbin) respectively on 29th July and 28th October last year.

Mr. Chichester-Clark

Is my hon. Friend aware that there is grave concern about this matter, especially in the light of recent reports in the Press about renewed Irish Republican Army activities?

Mr. Dodds-Parker

Yes, I am fully aware of the feeling in Northern Ireland, and I can assure my hon. Friend that I will do whatever is possible to ease the situation.
