19. Mr. Turner

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air the figures for the past three years of National Service trainee pilots who have lost their lives during their period of training; and what increase or decrease these figures show.

Mr. Ward

The figures are 24 in 1952, 15 in 1953 and 8 in 1954. Expressed as a percentage of the number of National Service pilots under training during the three years in question, these figures show a small improvement for 1954.
