HC Deb 15 June 1955 vol 542 c585
35. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what progress has been made to date with the electrification of the Fenchurch Street, Tilbury and Southend line.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The British Transport Commission informs me that progress is being made with the planning and surveying necessary for the major engineering works which must be carried out before the actual electrification of this line can begin. It is hoped to make a start with the new "flyover" junctions at Barking and the re-arrangement of the track layout in the spring of next year.
