§ 26. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is aware that cyclists refuse to use cycle tracks on some trunk roads because they are ill kept, with large potholes; and whether he will have these tracks repaired without delay.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterIf the hon. Member will let me know which roads he has in mind, I will investigate. There are heavy arrears of work to be done on this and all other aspects of our highway system.
§ Mr. JannerWill the right hon. Gentleman see what he can do about this matter, in view of the accidents that occur on the roads and the necessity to encourage cyclists to use these tracks? This is prevalent generally.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI have a good deal of sympathy with the hon. Gentleman's desire to encourage the use of these tracks by cyclists. I agree with him that it would contribute quite substantially to road safety.
